Yet another reason to hate Gamestop.

Well I found a new reason to hate gamestop.


I was in gamestop few days ago while my car was at the dealer getting the ecm replaced from a manufacturer recall. While I was waiting I walked across the street to a gamestop (after swearing them off years ago I thought Id pop in to see if things had changed) and the girl there wasnt exactly very nice, a little snotty to be honest but I brushed her off best I could since I was starved for entertainment and I bought some cheap gamecube games, psp game and few other things. When I get home I open it up to find......







Yup, roaches, multiple ones. This game had 3 of them inside it and they laid eggs and stained the inside of the manual. The thing is you couldnt have missed them when you put the used game in it, I certainly didnt when I opened it and legs started falling out on my desk. Both gamecube games had roaches in it and the psp game I had picked up also had a roach head inside the umd case stuck in the back in plain view. Its not like they were behind the games artwork or something where you couldnt see and its not like they were tiny or even just one.

So I called gamestop and told the girl answering the phone and her reply was "Well the games work dont they?" and after a long pause gave me that big sigh and said if I have to return them I can in that kind of smarmy snide attitude. I called their customer service both on employee attitude and roachs and they said "Well that shouldnt be, but we will certainly pass your comments a long to the district manager of that store, can I help you with anything else?" and I hung up. After such shitty all around customer service and roachs I finally lost all faith in them.

I honestly cant decide what is worse. The roaches I found in the games knowing she didnt say anything but ignoring them and letting me deal with it, the sales clerks shitty attitude with me from the minute I walked up to the counter or the pitiful excuse for customer service I got when I called the 800 number. I was grossed out, put off and pissed off by them all in one day.




UPDATE:

Well it’s been a few months and they still made no real sincere attempt at trying to reconcile with me over their horrible customer service. I finally got enough attention from my story other websites posted it and finally I get a phone call out of state from a self titled big shot at lamestop. In short he offered to refund me the cost of the games after telling me he prided himself on never having a issue he couldn’t resolve with a customer.

He just couldn’t understand after all the months of being ignored by phone, email and in store visits, the total lack of interest in my problem and complete disregard for me as a customer (not to mention my previous years of complaints I have with their company) why I was unhappy after he offered me a refund. He even made some insincere attempt and offering me a 10 dollar gift card without actually offering it and was shocked when I declined his pitiful offer and said I will never shop there again. So that goes to show the company is run by guys who can’t relate to their customers, because he couldn’t understand that 10 dollars isn’t enough to buy me off and make me suddenly happy with a pitiful excuse for a company. He even went as far as to try be buddies with me and somehow got on the topic of reasons why bestbuy sucks.

Gamestop has forever lost my business. And honestly, in the years I stopped shopping there I have saved a lot of money buying with other places. I liked the idea of a dedicated game store I could frequent often and give my business to. But I have my limits on shit I will tolerate and with lamestop, I’m in over my head of wet sloppy shit Ill put up with.
